View Kitchenette Bed Food was excellent Music Pool table
Most staff were lOvely, but one Had an unhelpful attitude Pillows were too high Automatic light kept coming on
The size of the apartment was perfect The spa on the balcony was great The shower recess was a great size - large and roomy as was the whole bathroom. Kitchen was beautifully appointed - hope they managed to get stove tops allowed.
They were a little tardy on maintenance. There was a strip of metal under the mirror that was held on with duct tape. It had slipped off down crookedly and looked very messy. The sensor lights in the bathroom were very annoying. There should have been an option to turn them off. The glass doors on the bathroom left no room for privacy. Again there should be the option to block off the bathroom for complete privacy. More care taken when restocking tea / coffee supplies. We had to ask three times for English breakfast tea bags. There is a great need for a shelf within the shower recess on which to place personal items - razor, shampoo etc.
Our washing machine did not work, the bed was very uncomfortable, the fridge wasn't very cold and we were charged for parking when the boom gate was left up and there was no room. When we talked the reception about the parking she told us there was a boom gate and we were wrong. We had to ask for towels as room service left us with none and our phones did not work so when we needed to talk to reception we had to walk down. Very unhappy
location. close to the city and the salamanca markets.tour buses picked up at door.
It's vicinity to Salamanda markets, the Salamander area and Constution Dock areas.
The room rate was reasonable for the location. Loved the king bed and the linen was good quality.
Very noisy, especially on Monday evenings with the Church bells ringing for 90 minutes!! On 3 separate occasions our room wasn't cleaned by 3.30pm as the staff were too busy. Most people want to return to their room around this time so we just asked for some clean linen and said don't worry about cleaning the room. If we had wanted it clean we would have had to go away for another hour. Breakfast food was very old fashioned and cold even though it was in warmed containers. Not good value.
We had been up early to leave Gold Coast at 4am . The room was not ready until 3.45pm that afternoon and that was with the duty manager re arranging the rooms around. Check in was at 2pm. The room was not cleaned on Sunday the housekeeper came to the room at 4.50pm which was too late to clean. Our booking was made through Booked.net and there was confusion at check out as there was an outstanding balance and a hold still on my credit card although the hotel has assured me that there is nothing being charged there was a holding amount of $274.05?
Great sized apartment, staff were just fab, especially the bar staff
Were't assigned to the correct room to begin with-we were sent to the old part of the hotel. It was quickly fixed with a phone call to the desk. The room im the central apts was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The bath tub had very high sides and I wonder how older people would be able to safely access the tub/shower. You should look in to that. We have a few disabled friend and I'm sure they would not have been able to shower. Room No 4419
central location, easy car park to negotiate.
Extra cost of car park.
We really enjoyed our stay and wished we had longer there. It's convenient to everything, well priced although we did have a special which was a bonus. Spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The staff were delightful and very helpful. We would recommend the Grand Mercure Apartments to everyone.
The King Room that we chose was spacious, modern and clean. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The location was in the central of the city walking distance to the shops, the harbour and transport.
The quality of the furnishings and bathroom fitiings was good, although the hanging space in the only cupboard was too short to hang a pair of pants The bed was comfortable. The food in the dining room was good. Only one armchair is a bit poor.
The service in the dining room was very bad. We were left to sit for more half an hour before and after our order was taken (with 4 other people present, hardly over-worked, would you say?). The wait-staff had all the "correct gestures etc", (pouring the bottle with the "regulation hand behind the back stance", which looks so contrived, I'm tired of seeing it) but they would be unemployable in a European environment. They seem to become fixated on arranging the silverware on another table for instance, totally unaware of the guest's requirements, and walk around as though they wore blinkers. Totally unacceptable, and as I said, would be unemployable in an Italian restaurant. For an idea on how a waiter should work, take a stroll down to Sallamanca Place to the Italian restaurant there, and watch the way they see everything and respond accordingly, with absolutely no fuss. Would I book again? Certainly not.
Pleasant old world spacious entrance, located in the heart of Hobart. Comfortable king size bed. Very helpful staff.
Ordinary breakfast, not value for money
The perfect refurbishment of the new part of the hotel to match the old feel of the old part of the hotel in a mordern way.
The only thing was the parking, the car park didn't recognize our card so we had to call through each time.
